Medical certificate for a driving license

A medical certificate is required for applying for, exchanging or renewing a driving license. At the clinic, the doctor checks the general health, vision, hearing, and blood pressure. The certificate is valid for six months from the date of issue.

Those aged 70 and over are required to have an extended doctor's certificate for renewing their driving license.

The applicant for the driving license certificate must bring a photo identification (passport or identity card). If you use glasses, remember to bring them even if you don't always use them (e.g. only for reading).

Medical examination for alcohol use

  • If you have been assigned a driving ban due to drunk driving, you should have a proper medical examination, on the basis of which you will be granted a certificate. The duration of monitoring is about two months (varies according to the period set by the police).
  • Note! Please bring the referral from the police.
  • The monitoring performed by the doctor consists of four stages.

  • Stage II (about a month later):
  • Health nurse's consultation and blood test
  • Stage III (again about a month later):
  • Blood test
  • Stage IV (immediately upon receiving the last blood test results):
