Certificate for obtaining or renewing a driver's license

Cost: €63 + polyclinic fee (poliklinikkamaksu) €21.90

In order to obtain, replace or renew your driver's license you need a medical certificate from your doctor. During the visit, the doctor checks your general health, vision, hearing and blood pressure. The certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of issuing. The visit lasts for 20 minutes.

Upon reaching the age of 70, an extended medical certificate is required to renew a driver's license

Cost: €112 + polyclinic fee (poliklinikkamaksu) €21.90

Please note that in the presence of chronic diseases that affect driving skills, the physician's fee may increase.

In order to obtain a driver's license, you must bring an ID with a photo, such as a passport, with you. If you wear glasses, you must bring them with you even if you do not wear them all the time, but, for example, only for reading.

Health screening for drinking

If your driver's license is revoked for drunk driving, you need to undergo a health screening, with a certificate being issued afterwards. The screening lasts for about 2 months (the duration depends on the period set by the police).

Please note that you must bring a police referral with you. The health screening is carried out in four stages.

Stage I:

visit to the physician and blood test,

Stage II - in about 1 month:

visit to the nurse and blood test,

Stage III  – in about 1 month:

blood test,

Stage IV:

Immediately after the results of the last tests are received, a visit to the physician and preparation of a medical certificate/report.
