A medical certificate for a driving license requires you to visit the nearest clinic.

To obtain a driving license certificate, you need to come to the nearest office. The doctor will assess your health condition by checking your hearing and vision as well as measuring your blood pressure. The examination cannot be done remotely. Our nearest office is conveniently located in Ruoholahti, Helsinki, with good public transport connections.

What kind of doctor's certificate do you need for your driving license?

A person applying for their first driving license may not necessarily need a medical certificate if their own assurance of meeting health requirements is sufficient. This only applies to group 1 driving licenses, i.e., car, motorcycle, moped, microcar, and tractor driving licenses. For group 2 license classes, a medical certificate is always required.

Also, an applicant for a group 1 driving license needs a medical certificate in several cases of illness. If the applicant's medical history has or has had, for example, eye diseases, diabetes, heart or vascular diseases, cerebrovascular disorders, insomnia or sleep apnea, mental health or personality disorders, disorders of activity and attention, intellectual disability, neurological diseases, memory disorders, dizziness, alcohol dependence, drug use, use of central nervous system affecting drugs, or diseases of the musculoskeletal system or other serious illnesses.

As a general rule, a medical certificate for a driving license is needed in the following cases:
