Why is a medical examination important for professional drivers?
Professional drivers must meet at least the medical requirements of driving group R2. The need for regular medical checkups arises from the risks of difficult working conditions, special health requirements, and possible occupational disease hazards.
The work of a professional driver is mentally and physically demanding. The driver must be able to drive safely in all traffic and weather conditions. Workdays are often long, shifts are irregular, and recovery time can be short. The driver must maintain excellent work readiness throughout the entire shift. The driver's tasks often include physical work and customer service.
Long working hours and insufficient recovery time increase the risk of developing various diseases such as cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes.
The driver's good health is also important for traffic safety. The accident risk for professional drivers is estimated to be 30 times higher than for other drivers.
Where should the certificate be delivered?
Driver's certificates are not electronically transferred from us to Traficom or the police; the customer must deliver them themselves in paper form.
The medical report is delivered to Traficom's service provider Ajovarma whenever applying for a driver's license. The medical report is submitted to the police when it concerns driving health monitoring.
Other driver medical certificates
Alcohol use medical examination
If your driver's license has been revoked for drunk driving, you must undergo a medical examination based on which a certificate will be issued.
The examination lasts about two months (duration depends on the time limit set by the police).
Attention!
You must have a referral from the police.
The medical examination is conducted in four stages.
Stage I:
Doctor's consultation and blood test.
Stage II - about a month later:
Nurse's consultation and blood test.
Stage III - about a month later:
Blood test.
Stage IV - immediately after receiving the last test results:
Doctor's consultation and medical certificate/report.
