Why is a medical examination important for professional drivers?

Professional drivers must at least meet the medical requirements of the R2 driver's license group. The need for regular medical examinations is due to the risk of complex working conditions, special health requirements, and the possible risk of developing occupational diseases.

The work of a professional driver is emotionally and physically challenging. The driver must be able to safely operate the vehicle under all types of road traffic and in various weather conditions. Workdays are often long, shifts are irregular, and rest time can be short. The driver's readiness for work must be impeccable throughout the entire shift. In addition, a driver's duties often include physical labor and customer service.

An unregulated workday and insufficient recovery time increase the risk of many diseases, for example, cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes.

The good health of drivers is also important from the perspective of road safety. The risk of road traffic accidents among professional drivers is estimated to be 30 times higher than for other drivers.

Where should the medical certificate be delivered?

We do not transfer driving license information electronically to Trafi or the police. You need to submit them in paper form yourself.

When applying for a driver's license, a doctor's opinion is provided to the service provider Traficom Ajovarma. A doctor's opinion is submitted to the police when it comes to the scheduled monitoring of the driver's health condition.

    Other medical certificates for drivers

    Medical examination for alcohol consumption

If you have been deprived of the right to drive a car due to driving under the influence of alcohol - you need to undergo a medical examination, based on which a certificate will be issued.

The duration of the examination is about two months (the duration depends on the deadline set by the police).

    Attention!

You should have a referral from the police.

The medical examination is conducted in four stages.

    Stage I:

    • doctor's appointment and blood test,

Stage II - approximately in a month:

    • appointment with the nurse and blood test,

Stage III - in about another month:

    • blood test,

    Stage IV:

    • immediately after receiving the results of the latest tests, doctor's appointment and medical certificate/conclusion.
