In all private clinics in Finland, in addition to the fee for a doctor's visit, a outpatient clinic fee (poliklinikkamaksu) is charged. It covers the cost of specialized software for information exchange with state databases, registry services, office expenses, and so on.

Medical centers have the right to independently determine the cost of this service. Usually, the outpatient clinic fee (poliklinikkamaksu) is 21-34 € and is paid once per visit, regardless of the number of procedures performed.

For example, if you have a consultation with a general practitioner, see a specialist, and undergo tests during the same visit, you pay the outpatient clinic fee (poliklinikkamaksu) only once.
