Attention! To buy medicine in EU countries, you will need a European prescription. You may order it remotely by contacting the doctors of the licensed Finnish Medical Centre MedFIN in English.

The cost of the prescription is 52 euros for pharmacies of Finland or 78 euros for pharmacies of other EU countries.

Using this prescription, you or your representative will be able to buy medicine in the pharmacies of EU countries.

The cost of this service (including postal rate) is 33 euros.

Answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ):

Most medicine in the EU is sold on prescriptions. They are entered into a single base to which pharmacies are connected. Pharmacies do not accept prescriptions of foreign doctors (other than from EU countries).

The patient by oneself or a legal representative of a minor child may apply for the prescription.

Doctors of the Finnish Medical Centre MedFIN may issue two types of prescriptions.

The first type of prescription is for pharmacies in Finland only, and it costs 52 euros. This prescription is accepted by all pharmacies in Finland. It is not valid in other EU countries.

The second type of prescription is intended for pharmacies of other EU countries. These countries are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Sweden and Estonia.

The second type of prescription is NOT VALID in Finland. This prescription is not given to you, but is sent using UPS to a specific pharmacy that you provide us. IN NO INSTANCE WILL IT BE POSSIBLE to re-send this prescription to another pharmacy (an error in the address, no drug on sale).

The European electronic prescription is valid for 2 years or until you buy the entire amount of the drug prescribed by the doctor.

One prescription will contain the amount of the medicine for one year if it needs to be taken constantly, or for one course of treatment, if the course of therapy is needed.

To do this, you need to complete the application form and report the information necessary for the doctor’s decision on the need and safety of the requested drugs for you.

After considering your appeal, the doctor will inform you if he permits to issue an electronic European prescription. The doctor may ask you clarifying questions.

At the time of the prescription application approval, you will be informed about the approved amount of the drug and the estimated cost of this drug in Finnish pharmacies. This price may vary in different pharmacies and in different EU countries.

In Finland, the prescription indicates the international non-proprietary name of the drug. The pharmacy will offer the patient the cheapest drug with this active ingredient.

We recommend to buy medicine without regard to commercial names, since they differ in different countries and strict state control in the EU does not allow low-quality analogs for sale.

If it is important for you to get a prescription with a specific commercial name of the medicine, please inform the doctor at the time of filling out the prescription application form in the «Comments» field. Such medicine may be several times more expensive.

Some medicines are delivered in the pharmacies of Finland only in the presence of a special permission of the supervisory authority Fimea. The first part of the request for this permission is made by a doctor in addition to the prescription, and it costs an additional 60 euros.

The second part of the request is made by a pharmacy (any), and it takes an additional fee of 20 to 40 euros, depending on the urgency of the preparation of the request to Fimea.

When considering the appeal, the doctor will notify you if it is necessary to get such special permission from Fimea.

We are working with residents of any countries. Permanent residents of Finland who possess the right to Kela compensation should apply for a prescription through video consultation only. This is necessary in order to link the prescription in the Kanta database to their personal identification number (Henkilötunnus).

MedFIN Medical Centre doctors do not prescribe drugs merely at the request of the patient or on the basis of the prescription of a foreign doctor.

Our doctor assesses the adequacy of the dose and the correctness of the prescription, and takes responsibility for the fact that the drug (on the basis of your data) is appropriate for you and does not harm.

We do not prescribe abused and psychotropic drugs to foreign residents.

Doctors also do not prescribe drugs that are not sold in Finland or other EU countries.

The final decision on the prescription is in the exclusive competence of MedFIN Medical Centre doctors.

The fee for the issue of the prescription is paid only in the case of an affirmation of the doctor through the personal account on our website using Visa or MasterCard cards.

After the issue of the electronic European prescription, costs for its registration will not be reimbursed.

If you apply for the prescription for pharmacies in Finland, following the payment the electronic prescription in the form of a PDF file for printing will be placed in your personal account. It cannot be shown from the smartphone screen in the pharmacy. If necessary, a special permission to release medicine for pharmacies in Finland will also be placed there. Logging in to the personal account is possible via a direct link from the service letter, which you will receive when the prescription is ready.

If you apply for the prescription for pharmacies in other EU countries, then this prescription is NOT GIVEN TO YOU, but is SENT using UPS to a specific pharmacy that you provide us during application. IN NO INSTANCE WILL IT BE POSSIBLE to re-send this prescription to another pharmacy (an error in the address, no drug on sale).

A prescription for pharmacies in other EU countries will be ready at the same time. Instead of the prescription you will see a tracking number for UPS delivery to the specified pharmacy in your account. Delivery of a prescription to a pharmacy in any EU country takes 2 to 3 days.

At the time of approval of the application for a prescription, you will be informed of the approximate cost of the prescription in Finnish pharmacies. Please note that the cost may vary in different pharmacies in Finland and in different EU countries.

Common medicine is always available in Finnish pharmacies. Any drug prescribed by a Finnish doctor in a prescription for Finnish pharmacies can be delivered to any Finnish pharmacy within 2 to 3 working days.

You should check the availability of medicine in pharmacies of other EU countries YOURSELF IN ADVANCE, before applying for a European prescription for pharmacies of other EU countries, because IN NO INSTANCE, WILL IT BE POSSIBLE to re-send this prescription to another pharmacy (an error in the address, no drug on sale).

You can buy the prescribed drug at once or several times over. Pharmacies are within a single network and will not sell you more than the amount of the drug prescribed by a doctor.

The prescription expires in either two years or when you buy the entire amount of the drug. After that you can renew the prescription for a fee by placing a new application.

Please keep track of the remaining amount of the drug prescribed after each purchase by yourself!

In a pharmacy, the medicine can be bought either by the patient themselves or by any other person upon presentation of a European prescription.

For a delivery service to EU countries, you can contact a German online pharmacy www.apteka.de. To do this, you will need our more expensive prescription for pharmacies in Germany.

Medicine from the list of potent substances are prohibited for import into some countries. You should check this information yourself before ordering a delivery to your country.
